The LAUTECH Information and Communication Technology, in line with our mandate to create an enabling environment where all students, staff, and the University community have easy access to technology resources and information, and to provide a user-friendly robust and dynamic ICT environment that supports increased use of the state-of-the-art ICT hardware and software resources, I, therefore, invite representatives of departments or research groups aspiring to establish an Open Access Journal to a training program on Beyond the Basics - Advanced Techniques for Electronic Journal Management Systems.

Course Overview

In the rapidly evolving landscape of academic publishing, the ability to efficiently manage electronic journals is essential for editors, reviewers, and administrators. "Beyond the Basics: Advanced Techniques for Electronic Journal Management" is a comprehensive course designed to equip participants with the basic and advanced skills needed to optimise the use of Journal Management Systems (JMS). This course delves into the sophisticated functionalities of JMS, enabling users to enhance their academic journals' quality, visibility, and operational efficiency.

Date: 6th July, 2024 – 24th July, 2024

Mode of Training
=================
The training programme will be delivered in Virtual/Face-to-Face (Blended) asynchronous mode via WhatsApp Platform and LAUTECH Information and Communication Technology (LICT) Learning Management System (https://elearn.lautech.edu.ng/lict). The face-to-face sessions will be held after the virtual training programme.

The training is structured daily and participants are expected to use between one and two hours per day to complete the activities and tasks in the Virtual Learning Environment to achieve the outcome of the training programme.

• Transition from a paper-based journal to an electronic journal system
• Configure and manage user roles and permissions.
• Customize the appearance and branding of their journals.
• Optimize submission and peer review processes for efficiency and quality.
• Implement advanced metadata standards and indexing techniques.
• Integrate external tools and plugins to enhance journal functionality.
• Generate detailed statistical reports and analyses.
• Manage special issues and supplements with tailored workflows.
• Ensure accessibility and compliance with relevant standards and policies.
• Implement promotional and monetisation strategies.

Certificate
===========
Certificate in Managing Electronic Journal Systems will be issued automatically via the LMS to participants who completed all the activities at the end of the training.
