The outstanding research efforts of Prof. Agbaje LATEEF and his team on Kola nut biotechnology and nanotechnology in more than a decade continue to garner recognition. His team pioneered the valorization of kola to produce enzyme, food-grade supplements and different metal, metal oxide and alloy nanoparticles for biomedical, environmental and agro-industrial applications.

Recently in May 2024, his research team, the Nanotechnology Research Group (NANO+) in collaboration with PANAFSTRAG, Lagos organized the first International Conference on Kola Plants to discuss the future of kola for sustainable development.

This time around, his research on the plant has been selected as one of the 19 items for exhibition for 6 months (12 July, 2024-02 February, 2025) on Kola nut in the gallery of Wellcome Collection, London, UK, which can be accessed online at: https://wellcomecollection.org/exhibitions/ZmmnMhEAACAAF5Rm

Wellcome Collection is a museum in UK owned by Wellcome Trust, with annual visitors of about 550,000 people. The exhibition, 'The Kola Nut Cannot Be Contained' is curated by Dr. Nathan Bossoh of University of Southampton and Dr. Ruth Horry of Wellcome Collection, UK. It is the first in a series of focused displays inspired by  collections at Wellcome museum.

In his reaction to the development, Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso,Nigeria, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu said, "We felicitate with Prof. Lateef and his team on this milestone, as he continues to project the good image of the University around the world through his research exploits.
