A team from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has distinguished itself by emerging among the top six teams in the Futurize Academy Global Challenge—an international startup competition that featured 142 teams from around the world. Notably, Team LAUTECH was the only Nigerian team to reach the final stage of the competition, held from November 17 to December 5.
The team, made up of Mubarak Erinfolami and Ajibade Ifeoluwa (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) and Faizat Olubori (Medicine and Surgery), developed an innovative project titled AquaVise: An AI-Driven Aquafarm with Wastewater Management System. The solution aims to empower local farmers by advancing intelligent and sustainable aquaculture practices through artificial intelligence and effective wastewater management.
The team was mentored by Prof. Tesleem Asafa, Director of the Centre for Emerging Skills and Technologies (CEST), whose guidance contributed to their outstanding performance on the global stage.
