Team LAUTECH wins first runner-up in AI and Digital Music Economy Hackathon, awarded ₦1.8 Million
Team Triumph from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) emerged as the first runner-up in the national AI and Digital Music Economy Hackathon. The team was awarded a cash prize of ₦1.8 million for their innovative project.
Held from November 10-16, 2025, in Abuja, the hackathon was organized by Blue Sapphire Hub in collaboration with the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) and the National Council for Arts and Culture.
The LAUTECH team developed "Oryon," a robust, AI-powered platform designed to centralize music distribution. The system tracks real-time performance across streaming platforms which provides a powerful tool to help government agencies minimize revenue leakage and improve efficiency within the creative industry.
The team, comprising Amoo Taiwo (Mechanical Engineering), Bello Abdullahi (Electronic and Electrical Engineering), Emmanuel Lafenwa (Mechanical Engineering) and Azeez Fatiha (Computer Science), was mentored by Prof. Tesleem Asafa, Director of Emerging Skills and Technologies (CEST) at LAUTECH.
This achievement highlights LAUTECH's steadfast commitment to fostering innovation, nurturing talent, and driving technological advancement in Nigeria.
