LAUTECH VC tasks new SUG executives on peace, integrity, responsible leadership
The Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Prof. Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, has charged the newly elected Students’ Union Government (SUG) executives to uphold peace, integrity and responsible leadership throughout their tenure.
Prof. Kalilu gave the charge on Monday, 5 October 2026, when the new students' union executives, led by the President, Mubaraq Famakin of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the student leaders to be good ambassadors of the University, warning them to shun vandalism, violence and any act capable of tarnishing their names or the image of the University.
He also charged them not to allow the degeneration of the University environment, while encouraging them to remain focused on their goals and build a legacy worthy of remembrance.
Prof. Kalilu assured the Union of Management’s support, urging the executives to freely approach him and other members of Management whenever they require guidance or encounter challenges.
He advised them to shun wrong counsel and avoid taking misguided steps that could place them at cross purposes with the Management or attract sanctions capable of derailing their academic careers.
“You should be guided by the right principles. You should be guided by institutional goals and by the legacies you want to leave, so that you do not fall prey to people who have no serious work to do,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that arrangements were being made for the Students’ Union to take over the administration of student welfare insurance.
