A multidisciplinary team from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has secured ₦2 million top prize in the maiden incubation funding stage at the pre-incubation stage of the Ilorin Innovation Challenge & Hackathon 2025, held on November 6, 2025. The event was organised by Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) in partnership with the Ilorin Innovation Hub and powered by IHS Nigeria.

Team LAUTECH — comprising Prof. Michael Olamoyegun (Medicine), Prof. Tesleem Asafa (Mechanical Engineering), Saka Adetayo (Mechanical Engineering), and Abdulah Bello (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) — is developing an IoT-powered system for the early detection of diabetic foot ulcers, aimed at preventing millions of diabetes-related lower-limb amputations.

Following this victory, the team has been selected to continue into the incubation training phase, where they will compete in the ₦5 million startup challenge. This remarkable accomplishment underscores LAUTECH’s dedication to fostering innovation, excellence, and leadership, while contributing to impactful technological advancement in Nigeria and beyond.
