LAUTECH Secures First Runner-Up at the 2026 STSE National Energy Challenge
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has emerged as the First Runner-Up at the 2026 Students' Technical Symposium and Exhibition (STSE) National Energy Challenge organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
The three-day STSE Conference, themed “Empowering the Future Energy Leaders: Collaboration, Innovation, and Resilience in a Changing World,” was held in Warri, Delta State, and brought together delegates from 51 universities across Nigeria. Organized by the SPE National Council, the conference provided a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of innovation among students.
Representing LAUTECH, a multidisciplinary team presented SentriWave, an innovative smart acoustic system designed for pipeline monitoring and vandalism prevention through real-time detection and early warning capabilities. Following a rigorous and highly competitive evaluation process involving teams from universities nationwide, LAUTECH secured the position of First Runner-Up, underscoring the University's commitment to research excellence, innovation, and the development of practical solutions to critical challenges within the energy sector.
The award-winning team comprised Mubarak Erinfolami and Ajibade Ifeoluwa, both from the Department of Electrical Engineering, alongside Bello Fatihah from the Department of Chemical Engineering. This remarkable achievement further reinforces LAUTECH's growing reputation as a centre of technological innovation and highlights the ingenuity, resilience, and collaborative spirit of its students.
