The Nigerian Young Academy - brainchild of the Nigerian Academy of Science - has selected Dr. Sulaimon Femi Abimbade as the winner of the 2025 edition of Prof. Aderemi Kuku National Young Researcher's Prize in Mathematical Sciences. The Annual Award aims at recognizing young Nigerians who have demonstrated research prowess and made outstanding contributions in Mathematics.
In a letter signed by the General Secretary of the Academy, Dr. A. A. Anjorin, it was stated that the Academy received many competitive applications that were subjected to a rigorous evaluation process, after which Dr. Abimbade's application stood out as the best. The prestigious award, which includes prize money and an award certificate, will be presented at the 15th International Conference & General Assembly of the Academy, scheduled to be held at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, between 25th and 28th August 2025.
Dr. Abimbade is a Lecturer II in the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), where he obtained both his Bachelor's and Doctoral degrees. It would be recalled that his PhD thesis, under the joint supervision of Dr. Samson Olaniyi and Prof. Olusegun A. Ajala, won the 2023 best thesis award of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences. This latest award serves as a confirmation of Dr. Abimbade's consistency and commitment to quality research outputs, aligning with LAUTECH's mission to advance knowledge through research and learning.
